Barbecue Thai Style

I think I may have gone overboard blogging about food. But what the heck! The Teochew people have a famous saying:

"Wi say wi si, wi dio ki lan ka hu kee". Crude, but it captures the essence very well. I have to apologize to those who don't speak the Teochew dialect. Literally, "We live or die for our ...(unmentionable) and our set of teeth".

The barbecue place at One Utama, Petaling Jaya

The hot plate. Lard is used to grease the hot plate before barbecuing meat

A selection of food: mutton, beef, pork, chicken, squid, sliced cabbage, mushroom, potatoes and baby corn

The ingredients for the sauce: cut green chili, lime and chopped garlic and onion

The sauce is a soy bean paste

Barbecuing an assortment of meat

Close-up shot of meat and squid being barbecued and vegetables being boiled in the shallow groove of the hot plate

For customers who are not familiar, there is the leaflet that explains how the customised hot plate is used to barbecue the food.

Cost for four people for the plate excluding rice and drinks: RM 45.00
