888

There is a new hawker food centre in SEA Park, Petaling Jaya, euphemistically called 888 or in Cantonese "fa fa fa". It is one of those modern food centres that allow you to eat in a comfortable and clean surrounding unlike the coffee shops that proliferate in PJ. This food 'planet' is definitely huge and there are at least 40 stalls serving all kinds of hawker food. And the rental is expensive: a stall goes for RM 1,500, and a slightly larger stall sets back a hawker RM 1,800 per month. We had bak ku teh, prawn and curry mee, and the verdict is, despite its spanking new and comfortable environment, is nothing to shout about, but our conclusion is probably premature as we have not tried out the various offerings available. We for one didn't try Filipino or Thai food. Still it is a convenient place for workers to have a quick meal in a pleasant environment.
